Frequently Asked Questions
Could a student returning to ASU use AGEC?
AGEC cannot be used to meet admission requirements for a returning student previously enrolled at ASU who was dismissed or disqualified.
AGEC could be used to satisfy lower division general studies requirements upon readmission to ASU.
Does AGEC apply to students who are governed by a catalog in effect prior to completion of AGEC and/or prior to the establishment of AGEC?
Yes. The date of AGEC's completion has no impact on the student's continuous enrollment status. For example, a student under the 86-87 catalog who completes AGEC in 1998-1999 will have met the lower division General Studies requirements upon transfer to ASU. She may still remain under the 86-87 catalog requirements if she so wishes.
Exception 1: The university has the right to reevaluate any credit more than eight years old.
Exception 2: AGEC may not apply to some baccalaureate degrees articulated as TG/XRs.
What are the residency requirements at ASU for AGEC?
Residency requirements are the same for all students. AGEC does not affect residency.
Does ASU require students to apply for AGEC certification?
No. ASU honors completion of AGEC as certified on the transcript by the community colleges.
